Antonov An-12TB ER-AXA (c/n 1347907) nearing the end of its long term storage at Brisbane Airport on 21 April 2007. The aircraft arrived in Brisbane on 2 April 2002 on lease to Pacific Air Express from the Air Bridge Group of Moldova. After the conclusion of the PAE charter on 28 November 2004, the aircraft was stored at Brisbane accruing charges and attracting the attention of the local press. The main reason for the lengthy stay in Brisbane was an ownership dispute which was eventually resolved in favour of Aeromost of Kharkiv, Ukraine. It was widely speculated that the aeroplane would be scrapped in Brisbane so it caused some surprise when the aircraft flew away on 9 June 2007 under the Lao registration RDPL-34153. Given the length of its stay in Brisbane, this aircraft is possibly the most likely source of the door in the QAM collection.Photo: Peter Gates
