Cessna 402 VH-DIL was ferried from Caloundra to Brisbane Airport on 22 February 1983 and loaded with freight for Gladstone and Rockhampton. The aircraft departed Brisbane at 0301 hours and reported over Gayndah at 0400 hours. This was the last transmission received from VH-DIL. Bell UH-1H A2-310 was one of two Iroquois helicopters tasked to search for the aircraft which was subsequently located in mountainous terrain near Nagoorin. Both Iroquois spent several hours winching personnel and equipment into and out of the crash site. The aircraft was photographed at Brisbane Eagle Farm on 25 August 1973.
