Heather
McDougall's Southern Airlines uniform, as worn in the photo below, is
now part of the Heather Zucal (nee McDougall) Collection of the Civil
Aviation Historical Society at Essendon. This very uniform was worn by
a model in a photo shoot to mark the centenary of Essendon Airport in

Southern
Airlines Flight Hostess Heather McDougall in the right hand seat of
a Dove which is almost certainly VH-GVE, probably at Essendon circa
1955. In addition to looking after the passengers, Southern Airlines
Flight Hostesses were trained and licensed to act as Radio Operators
in which capacity they occupied the right hand seat in the cockpit.
