This photograph
(which Henry Godman cut out of his album!) shows a bare metal DC-3 with
the distinctive right-hand door, short chord cowls of the Wright Cyclone
and tall radio mast, leaving little doubt that this is VHCXE. This photo
indicates that the DC-3 was stripped of its camouflage while in service
