    The aircraft was operated by Rex Aviation on behalf of the the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) on cloud-seeding experiments based at Mackay, Qld. For this purpose the aircraft was modified with a tubular duct on the point of the nose cone (purpose unknown) and a chute on the left hand side of the fuselage through which dry ice was dispensed into suitable clouds. Picture The aircraft was flown by Phillip Zupp who had flown Meteors with No 77 Squadron RAAF in Korea. He recalled that flying through storm clouds was some of the most violent flying he had done since aerial combat. (Source: 3)
