Caribou A4-173 (centre) at East Sale in company with Caribou A4-228 (left). It is believed that this picture was taken on 7 April 1972 when A4-173 diverted to East Sale with an unserviceability. The 35SQN Operations Record Book states that parts were flown in from Richmond in A4-228 and that A4-173 to returned to Richmond the following day. A4-173 was flown by FLGOFF I.E. Watson and FLGOFF R.E. Burstall. The aircraft returned from Vietnam on 28 February 1972 having been delivered directly to Vietnam thus never having previously visited Australia! The aircraft still wears its Vietnam camouflage colours. The aircraft at right is a Hawker Siddeley HS748, several of which were operated by the School of Air Navigation which was based at East Sale.
